The Post Office in TG Jones at the Ealing Broadway Centre closes on Monday 4 January 2027. The nearest alternatives are in West Ealing, about a mile away.
Ealing’s main Post Office, inside the TG Jones shop in the Ealing Broadway Centre, will close on Monday 4 January 2027.
The Post Office says it is looking for someone to run a replacement branch, but it has not said where one would be or when. Until then, the nearest counters are both in West Ealing.
The closure is set out in an information letter published on Tuesday 6 October on the Post Office’s consultation site. The branch is at 39-42 Ealing Broadway Centre, W5 5JY.
Why it is closing
The letter blames the restructuring of TG Jones, the retailer that runs the counter. It says some TG Jones stores will close and the Ealing branch “is affected by this restructuring”.
The Post Office has filed it as a “Branch Unplanned Closure”. That matters, because it decides how much say the public gets. Under the Post Office’s own rules, printed at the foot of the letter, an unplanned closure only requires it to notify customers. There is no public consultation on the closure itself.
Will there be a replacement?
Possibly. The letter says the Post Office is “in the early stages of reviewing applications to run the Post Office branch”. It says any future service has to be sustainable for whoever runs it and for Post Office Limited. It promises a further update “as soon as possible”.
It does not say whether a replacement would be in the town centre, or whether it would open before 4 January.
Where to go instead
The letter names two alternative branches. Both offer “a similar range of services”, it says, and both have a wide door and level access.
| Branch | Address | Distance from Ealing Broadway | Opening hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| West Ealing | 187 Uxbridge Road, W13 9AJ | About 0.9 miles | Mon to Fri 8.30am to 5.30pm; Sat 9am to 1pm |
| Leeland Road | 49 Broadway, West Ealing, W13 9BP | About 1.1 miles | Mon to Thu 8.15am to 5.30pm; Fri 8.15am to 5pm; Sat 8.15am to 1pm |
Neither opens on Sundays. The letter says there is time-restricted parking near both, and local buses serve the area.
How long it has been there
The branch has been in the Ealing Broadway Centre for seven years. It moved from the WHSmith shop at 21-23 The Broadway, W5 2NH, into the WHSmith shop in the centre in June 2019, according to the Post Office’s decision letter for that move. That shop now trades as TG Jones.
What it means for you
- The branch is open as normal until 4 January. Nothing changes before then.
- If you use the counter for parcels, cash or bills, West Ealing on Uxbridge Road is the nearest. Check the latest hours on the Post Office’s branch finder before you go.
- If you want to comment or complain, write to the National Consultation Team at comments@postoffice.co.uk or FREEPOST Your Comments. The letter says comments are not kept confidential unless you mark them “In Confidence”.
- If you think the Post Office has not followed its own process, it says it will tell you how to take that to Citizens Advice. Citizens Advice judges the process, not the decision.
- For product questions, the Post Office’s line is 03457 223344. For the letter in large print, audio or braille, call 03452 66 01 15.
We will report the Post Office’s update on a replacement when it is published.
